QRWN 2007 Bunya Mountains Gathering

Tranquility & Inspiration

The Barambah Branch of the QRWN (Queensland Rural Women’s Network), have the pleasure of inviting you to our

Bunya Mountain Gathering.

Wednesday 29,Thursday 30 and Friday 31 August 2007

at the Bunya Mountain Conference Centre, Dandabah.

Adverse conditions place a heavy burden upon the entire rural community, leading to high stress levels and negative situations.  We all need time to re-group & relax.  Our goal is to return participants to their communities with a refreshed and positive outlook.

The Gathering offers:

Our Gathering offers time out to enjoy the peace & tranquility of the mountains.  Take walks in the lush bunya forests.  Relax with tai chi, facials & massage.  Catch up with old friends and new.  Book a quiet session with a trained counselor to debrief your stress or just have a chance to be listened to.

Extend your knowledge of business & financial management, community mentoring, photography, fabric painting, beading, belly dancing & hatmaking at our workshops.

Interact with our great speakers – from internationally recognised Dr Phil Burgess (Access to Essential Services: Rural Communities Getting Innovative!) and Dr Leonie McMahon (Laugh Your Stress Away!) to a panel of regional business women and community activists who will entertain & inspire you with their learnings about ‘working smart not hard’ in rural business, community fund raising & sponsorship, organising major events, environmental management and much more. The man in your life will enjoy interacting in a ‘For Men Only’ session with Max Conlon. All of the speakers focus on getting the most out of life, while ‘getting the job done’!

Browse the Trade Displays and the Burnett Inland Marketplace featuring fascinating local micro-business – from candles to cheeses.

Be entertained at the Outdoor Campfire Concert ‘Harmony in the Mountains’, the Wearable Art Extravaganza & Cultural Competition, and the Fireplace & Port Evening.

And so much more………………………………………………..

There’s plenty to do (for the active and eager) and plenty of down time (for those who want to get away from it all).  And, there’s a bit of pampering – which we can all do with from time to time.

We aim to educate, inspire & invigorate you!!

Accomodation

Could anyone who has booked accommodation and has spare rooms/beds that they are happy to allow someone else to share, contact Kathy on 4164 3219 or email on kathyrosenberger@aapt.net.au. Also, can anyone who is unsure about arranging accommodation because they have no one to share with, contact Kathy who will help to sort out the details.

Please remember that you must bring your own bed linen or be prepared to hire them at $10 - $15. Also bring your own towel and possibly a bath mat.

Remember that it can be cold, and sometimes windy, in the mountains. Dress for warmth and comfort, as we are promoting tranquillity and inspiration, and it’s hard to be either if you are cold. Layering is advisable and even fashionable. Be daring. I have been known to wear tracky dacs under my jeans and am planning on doing so for the night sessions. If they still fit. And it’s amazing how much you can wear under a large coat or parka without anyone realising that those layers are nearly as old as you are.
