About Us

The Queensland Rural Women's Network Inc (QRWN) was formed in 1993 to meet the needs of women in rural communities throughout the state.

Since then it's grown to be a progressive organisation running a series of programs in regional centres as well as being involved at a national and international level.

The membership of QRWN includes women and men who are:

  • located in a rural or regional area

  • involved in a rural business (town based or primary production)

  • involved in a rural community

  • located in urban or coastal areas, and who have an interest in rural issues

  • interested in promoting strong links between the rural and urban sectors.

Our focus is on all rural women and their families, communities and enterprises.

Our Vision And Mission

QRWN is a not for profit organisation aiming to link rural and regional women, and build their capacity.

The QRWN is funded through membership and external partnerships, and our mission is to "grow the potential of individual women in regional communities through a collaborative, innovative network".
Our Aims

The Queensland Rural Women's Network has the following strategic objectives:
  • Capacity building programs

  • Creating collaborative linkages with organisations and opportunities

  • Giving women a voice and creating influence with decision makers at all levels

  • Creating an inclusive safe environment for regional women to connect.
Our Structure

The Queensland Rural Women's Network extends over seven regions (the Northern, Western, Central, Wide Bay-Burnett, South East, Border and Metropolitan regions), each of which are under the management of Regional Directors.

For 2010-2011, the QRWN is managed by a seven member Board composed of a President, a Secretary, a Treasurer and four Board members.

Each member of the Board is responsible for specific areas of the QRWN's work, and the Board meets on a regular basis. .

The QRWN also has a number of projects run by members who have an interest in particular fields. All members are encouraged to become involved in these projects and/or to suggest new ones.
